I really need some help for my parakeets. One is male and the female, they keep fighting and i’m not sure why. The male one tends to chase the female and flip his wings aggressively and screech. The female moves away from the male and sometimes flies away. The male kicks the female and the female more commonly uses her beak back at him. I’m not sure why the are doing it 🙁 They are in seperate cages right now. Please Help!!

I recently got a male budgie becuase my female was lonely. They were doing fine for a while until my female started constantly pestering him and nipping him. I seperated them for about a week and reintroduced them. Recently I’ve been recieving mixed signs. Sometimes my female and male preen each other, but other times my female pecks him away. Other times my male will hop away when my female gets close to him. I don’t know what is happening and couldn’t find any resources anywhere. Would you give me some advice?

Thanks

The green one is a little guy(or girl cant tell yet) and I have a light blue that appears to be female and possibly a larger male turquoise. Again, I am not sure of the sexes yet, they are under a year old. The 2 blues get a long but the larger turquoise is always attacking the little green one. He even bullies the light blue one to do the same. The light blue gets along with both. I have finally put the larger turquoise by itself and the other 2 live harmoniously together. But when I take them all out the 2 blues immediately go to each other and start kissing and grooming each other. I feel badly that I separated them because the turquoise one very obviously wants to go back to the other cage. But it is so aggressive and I dont want the little green one to be bullied and be alone. That is why I separated the turquoise one by itself. Should I separate the little green one by itself instead? Keep the 2 blue birds together? Not sure how to handle this. Thanks for any advice.

So informative! I’m bird sitting for 3 weeks so I’m trying to give myself a crash course. One is an albino but I think it’s a girl because she’s fiesta and will try to bite. The other is more mellow and has a blue cere. They get along for the most part. I move their cage around the house to different mirrors, in front of tv,..I’m pretty sure they like me! That was neat to learn. Both start singing when I start to move the cage. Thanks again

I have never had a bird. I think it’s mean to keep birds in cages. However, I’ve recently acquired two parakeets who were neglected from a nursing home. I think one is a boy and one is a girl. I’ve had them maybe 4 or 5 months. I still can’t get anywhere near them to handle them. They are terrified of me. If I stand outside the cage and speak to them they sit crouched together listening warily. If I’m not in the room they seem to talk and play and sing and jump around and poke at one another. Will they be afraid of me forever? I think sticking my hand in their cage scares them and is cruel. How do I tame these two poor little things? I have emailed all kinds of rescues asking for advice and no one ever answers. Thank you for your time.

I’m not sure what brought this on – any ideas?? And what should I do about it??
