My conure, Tomi, is approximately ten years old and has been with me for three years. Tomi has had two previous homes, the first for five years, the second for two years. Tomi bonded well with me for the first 18 months, was very cuddly and friendly. Upon getting the dog, he has become very cage territorial and tries to bite when he is being offered to step up and come out and has broken skin until I learned what behaviors he exhibits before biting. I leave him in his cage if he bites and take him to a dimly lit room for time out and tell him no bite. After 10 or 15 minutes he is brought back still in his cage, if he is calm we may try coming out again. He was a great cuddly, social bird prior to my having a dog. He does good 1:1 and once he is out. The dog watches the bird, will sometimes try to chase my gc away, they are competing to see who is number 1, the alpha in the family. Any help is greatly appreciated.
