The wings of a parrot are…
The wings of a parrot are not clipped, just the feathers. It doesn’t hurt. Think of having your nails or hair cut. And if you try it and don’t like it they will grow back.

Reasons for clipping wings have to do with a parrot’s safety. If only a few of he outer feathers are clipped, the bird can still glide but not gain height or speed.

I clipped my birds’ wings, then let them grow out. Let me tell you a parrot hitting a sliding glass door at full speed isn’t pleasant. I was surprised he didn’t break his neck and his wings were quickly clipped again.

Many parrots are lost as their feathers regrow and their owners don’t realize it. I know of two blue and golds who flew away. The owners didn’t realize the feathers had grown back and took them out. So if you love your bird, give him lots of time outside his cage, on a playpen or take him with you. Just make sure he can’t fly into danger.
